... Pat, As usually thanks for hitting it out of the park. I enjoy lurking on your blog. The only word in this entire post that I take um bridge with his your chosing to use the word "trite" when describing anything written by Robert Frost. Your cut was deep, but with all the entertainment and insight that you provide this old Pirate fan, you immediately are forgiven. Happy New Year! |

... I don't mean Robert Frost himself is "trite," just the incredibly common overusage of "two roads diverge in a wood." Anyways, glad you enjoyed the post, Tim. Hope I didn't offend too much. |

... I absolutely agree with you. In my opinion, it's better to have bad baseball than have no baseball at all. |

... I don't blame anyone who gives up on the Pirates after all this time; they're one of the true bottom-feeders in sports, like the Detroit Lions or Los Angeles Clippers. The management and ownership were both asleep at the wheel for a long time and refused to do what had to be done, namely go into full rebuilding mode. This new management team seems to be moving in the right direction, but it is hard for the average fan to comprehend why they would trade Jason Bay and Xavier Nady for prospects when both of those players were having great years (Bay's as a return to form, Nady's as just playing way over his head). They'll be back when this team is winning, because that's what most Pittsburghers do; they back the winners and abandon the losers. Just remember, prior to the Penguins getting Mario Lemiuex, that team couldn't draw fans, and in the period between Lemiuex and Crosby attendance was down as well. Put a good product on the field and people will show up, because if there is one thing Yinzers are good at, it's jumping on and off a bandwagon. |

... Fantastic post as usual. I wish it wasn't necessary for you and Charlie to perfectly sum up the situation every time the PG posts something of that nature. Thanks. |

... Pat, absolutely no offense taken. As long as everyone at WHYAVS stays away from "Twilight" references I will keep reading away. I come from the world of academia and must say that you are a tremendous writer! But as long as you don't start comparing the lovefest that Jim T. had with Jose H. to Bella and Edward..................................................... I keep hoping to see some more commentary on Andy L. and his 09 projections. |

... I'm waiting for a bunch of the projections to come in. I posted about the James projections and I have the Hardball Times projections, but I can't share them until their book is published. Chone came out recently and ZiPS and BP should be out within a month or so, so something should be coming soon. |

... I agree with this post and I also agree with the fan not renewing their ticket plan. Just because someone cancels their season tickets doesn't mean they are giving up on the Pirates entirely either. To everyone reading this blog, how many of you have Pirates season tickets? I don't know if any of you do, but we're all still fans, we all still watch the games, listen to the games. We all know that on any given night/afternoon (excluding SkyBlast), you can take your family of 4, roll down to PNC Park and grab a cheap, decent seat. I wouldn't spend money purchasing season tickets on this team either, no chance in hell. And I'm still a huge fan. |
