afnafzdFN i'd actually want to see 21 retired. retiring one number other than 42 won't open any "floodgates." somehow, frank robinson and jackie's widow have convinced bud selig that retiring 21 would dilute the retiring of 42. which to me makes no sense. what jackie did for blacks in baseball cannot be understated. but we're quick to forget about clemente's influence on the latin american side of the game. not to mention the manner in which he passed, as an advocate for the game and the human aspect of its players. i approached this back in 2007 http://psamp.com/2007-articles/october/retire-21.html |
