Andrew McCutchen finishes fourth. We knew it was coming, but it still sucks.

Happ managed to land on all 32 ballots and Randy Wells had basically the same season and got 1 vote. Losses were the only real difference in their numbers and it's not like the pitcher has much control there when they have the same numbers.

Also nice to see that fielding has no impact on the voting. Coghlan was awful in the field.

Defense
Defense is part of the game too. They just look at offense.

'Cutch was good enough for me to get his tshirt the last time I was back home and to give me faith in this team's future. And don't forget another (future) centerfielder named 'Andrew' that didn't win ROY either... Our man AVS finished second to Darryl Strawberry in '83. But I think it's bad teams and little national coverage that keep our guys under the radar. Jason Bay won, but Jason Kendall didn't, even though he had a better year than the winner (and runner-up) and Orlando Merced would've won if not for Jeff Bagwell. Oh well... I'll take a sixth championship over a ROY anytime.
