Game 104: Cardinals 9 Pirates 1

Pretty much everything that the Pirates had been doing well since the All-Star Break, scoring runs, winning some games on the road, looking like a competent baseball team, etc., all went out the window this weekend against the Cardinals. Early on this afternoon it seemed like the Pirates might get to Wainwright, but after Neil Walker bunted them out of a first inning rally (a good way for John Russell to make sure I stop writing nice things about him is to have Walker keep squaring around early in the game with runners on) things went downhill pretty quickly.

So what’s left to do? Head home, get the new Pirates in uniform, and hope things go better against the Reds, I guess.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
