Player of the Week: Pedro Alvarez

I don’t normally mention stuff like Pirate players winning Player of the Week awards, but I do think it’s worth noting that Pedro Alvarez just won NL Player of the Week honors. It’s worth noting not because he’s a Pirate, but because he hit .414 in the club’s six games against St. Louis and Houston, but only put up a .400 OBP. That’s what no walks and a sac fly will do for you, I guess.

And still, Pedro did raise his OPS 41 points this past week, so I suppose I’m not exactly complaining. Now let’s all hope he can finish strong on the road.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
