Pirates, Hanrahan agree to one-year deal

As I guessed earlier today, agreeing to a contract was a relatively painless prospect for the Pirates and Joel Hanrahan (via Rocco DeMaro on Twitter) as the two sides agreed to a one-year deal with as-yet-undisclosed terms. It’ll be way less than Matt Capps is making for the Twins, though.

That leaves Ross Ohlendorf as the only arbitration-eligible Pirate left.

UPDATE: Colin Dunlap says the terms are one year/$1.4 million.  So … quick deal, between $1 and $1.5 million. Hold on a second, I wrote “It’s incredibly hard to lose 105-110 games” so many times last winter that I want to savor being right about this, even if it’s a relatively minor victory.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
