A weekend with the fishes

If there’s a possible series that’s more obscure than Pirates/Astros, I suppose it’d have to be Pirates/Marlins in Pittsburgh on NFL kickoff weekend with the Steelers playing the Ravens. I mean, it’s like they actually don’t want people paying attention.

Tonight, Ross Ohlendorf pitches for the Buccos against Ricky Nolasco. I continue to be completely unexcited by Ohlendorf’s return and can’t say I’m all that interested in watching him pitch. It’s worth noting that Pedro Alvarez is not in the lineup tonight, even though Nolasco is a righty. I’m taking that as a sign that Alvarez isn’t going to play all that regularly even though he’s back. There are also a bunch of other minor leaguers joining the team (Matt Hague, Gorkys Hernandez, Bryan Morris, Kyle McPherson, Justin Wilson) tonight, but just to watch.

First pitch tonight is at 7:05.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
