It turns out the Pirates have an afternoon game today (and it’s not going well)

About ten minutes ago, I walked into lab and immediately remembered that the Pirates have an afternoon game today. The Reds were in the process of scoring three runs in the first inning when I turned it on, so that’s where we are right now: the Reds are up 3-0 after a weird review at the plate in which I’m still not sure if they were reviewing whether Devin Mesoraco was safe or whether Chris Stewart was blocking the plate.

Anyway, Francisco Liriano makes his last start of the regular season today, and it’d be awfully nice for him to turn this start around and give the Pirates something since they refused to juggle the rotation to put him in the Wild Card Game. Alfredo Simon pitches for the Reds. A 3-0 deficit should not be insurmountable for this Pirate offense, which is good because the Bucs probably need a win to stay in the division race. St. Louis and Arizona play at 8:10 tonight.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
