Given that this homestand started with the Pirates’ bats falling into a funk, it’d be awfully nice if the trend that started last night continued tonight so that the homestand could end with them hitting their way out of said funk. They’ll face Jose Quintana tonight. He’s the third lefty they’re facing in a row, so I’ll point you back to what I wrote about the Pirates’ lineup vs. lefties last night. To summarize, though, I suspect it’s more of a strenght than people realize right now.
Charlie Morton starts for the Bucs. He’s looking to continue an excellent streak of starts that began when he came off the disabled list. A win tonight would mark the second straight homestand in which the Pirates lost two games, then won the last six. That’d be a pretty solid trend.
