Gerrit Cole faces the Rockies

Gerrit Cole’s strong start against the Padres last week avoided a sweep in Petco Park and kick-started a solid turn of the rotation for the Pirates, with four wins in five games. Cole’s been solid ever since his rough first inning against the Reds in his first start. After Locke focused entirely on fastballs and changeups last night, I’m sort of interested to see how Cole approaches pitching in Coors Field.

Jorge de la Rosa pitches for the Rockies. He has not been good this year. Perhaps a struggling lefty and Coors Field are what Andrew McCutchen needs to get jump-started. First pitch is at 8:40 (which is … RIGHTNOW).

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
