Game 132: Brewers 5 Pirates 3

Here is a partial list of what from last night’s game drives me crazy:

  • Seeing Jung Ho Kang sit every third day without fail because someone worse than him has to get playing time.
  • Pretending like Kang’s in a slump now because he’s hitting worse now that he isn’t playing every day.
  • Seeing Andrew McCutchen sit in the third game of a series in which the Pirates lost the first two games so that Josh Harrison can get at-bats.
  • Seeing Gregory Polanco bunt against an obviously struggling Will Smith after the Pirates have already ripped three straight hits off of Smith to turn a 4-1 game into a 4-3 game.
  • Seeing Radhames Liz, who has great stuff but who the Pirates obviously have enough reservations about that they went out and acquired three different non-Radhames Liz pitchers at the trade deadline to fill three different roles that they had pegged Liz for at various points this season, work a second inning in a one-run game with expanded rosters and a ton of bullpen arms.

The Pirates are 0-6 against the Brewers since the All-Star Break. Either they will sweep the Cardinals this weekend in St. Louis, or they will play in the Wild Card Game against Jake Arrieta.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
