The new lefty lineup

With Josh Harrison and Jordy Mercer back in the lineup, we’re getting a little bit of a different look from the Pirates against Marlin lefty Brad Hand. Harrison is at second in place of Neil Walker, and Aramis Ramirez gets the start at third tonight. Sitting Mercer down and getting Mercer at-bats against lefties makes plenty of sense. I’d obviously rather see Jung Ho Kang in the lineup every night, but one off night won’t be the end of the world for him, especially since Ramirez’s bat started to perk up before Harrison and Mercer came back.

Charlie Morton starts for the Bucs. He’s pitched pretty well lately, generating a ton of swings and misses with his curveball. That’s what I’ll be keeping an eye on tonight. First pitch is at 7:10.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
