Don’t lose to the Reds

It’s getting late and I’m still in lab, staring at a post about Joakim Soria (coming up next!) and so I’m going to keep this series preview short. The Pirates have been awful against the Reds this year (2-7). The Reds, in turn, have been awful at baseball this year (45-54, including all those wins against the Pirates). The Reds are going to be dismantled during this series, with Johnny Cueto already traded and Jay Bruce and Mike Leake presumably on the block. Don’t keep losing to the Reds. It’s a bad look, and it makes catching the Cardinals harder than it needs to be.

AJ Burnett starts for the Bucs tonight. As I’ve been saying, I’m a bit worried with how he’s pitched lately and would love to see him turn in a quality start for the Buccos. David Holmberg is starting for the Reds tonight. The entirety of what I know about him is in that link. Hopefully the suddenly-hot Pirate offense stays hot.

First pitch is at 7:10.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
