Creeping back east

After a brutal trip to California, the Pirates are creeping back towards the East Coast with a stop in Arizona for a three-game set. My gut tells me that this series is probably going to help set the Pirates’ offense back on the right track; Arizona has a hitter-friendly ballpark and even the best of their rotation can’t quite stack up to what the Pirates have seen so far this year.

Tonight, Erik Bedard looks to bounce back from a lackluster second start against Joe Saunders, who’s a pitcher the Pirates might not strike out nine times against. If they can actually get some balls to fall for hits, they might be OK tonight. The first pitch is at 9:40.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
