Dave Kerwin says ‘Bring it’

I believe that the following things may be worth keeping in mind tonight:

  1. When Cryin’ Ryan Braun started these shenanigans back in April, one of the things that he said was that the Pirates coaches were making “that kid” (meaning Karstens, who’s actually older than he is) throw at him. I don’t recall exactly, but I believe that Joe “Dave Kerwin” Kerrigan was implied as the originator of the beaning.
  2. All of the Pirates’ pitchers seem to really like Kerrigan. Which means that they may not be pleased with Jason Kendall’s little petulant display in the locker room last night.
  3. Virgil Vasquez is probably on his way out of the rotation anyways. Just sayin’
  4. When Joe Kerrigan gets angry, he reminds of Daniel Day Lewis in There Will Be Blood.

I’m not saying there’s going to be a fight tonight or that I’m rooting for one, but I am saying that I don’t think the bad blood between these two teams is going away any time soon and that it might boil over sooner rather than later. Personally, I just want another win tonight. A series win this week would be really, really sweet.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
