Game 111: Cards 7 Pirates 3

For 7 innings I thought to myself, “Hmm, maybe Duke will get us deep enough into the game that the bullpen can’t possibly blow the lead.” Then, Duke came out of the game with one out in the eighth and Matt Capps came in and I thought, “Oh, this isn’t going to work.” Of course, Capps was probably the best option, it’s just that there really aren’t any good options at all when you’ve got a bullpen like we do. He promptly served up a pinch-hit homer to Skip Schumaker, beaned Albert Pujols, and I turned the game off. I’m tired of writing the same recap over and over again .

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
