Game 161: Brewers 6 Pirates 4

Some nights, Prince Fielder hits three home runs off you and there’s not much you can do about it. Fielder crushed three balls tonight that I think might still be in orbit somewhere. Some were off of bad pitches, some were off of good pitches, but they accounted for five of the Brewers’ six runs and they were obviously the difference in the game. Every time the Pirates scored, Fielder was there to answer with a homer. Figures that the guy that’s destroyed the Pirates for so long would make sure to get one final jab in before he (maybe) leaves the division for good.

There’s not much else to say about this one. Alex Presley and Neil Walker had a couple of hits, Ross Ohlendorf gave up three homers (two of Fielder’s and a mega-blast to Rickie Weeks that was probably the longest homer of the night). Not an auspcious end of the season for Ohlie.

The nightmarish final 62 games of the season finally ends tomorrow.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
