Into the mountains

This is a bad time for the Pirates to be heading to Coors Field. We’re on an ugly eight-game skid, while the Rockies just got done whupping the Cubs and valuting themselves into the wild card lead. This losing streak does have to end at some point (at least by conventional wisdom, it does), but this series just feels like a bad match for us.

Anyways, Ross Ohlendorf gets a chance to end the streak and he’s matched up against Jhoulys Chacin, who’s making his first big league start tonight. Chacin’s 21 with great minor league numbers and he’s been solid out of Colorado’s pen so far this year. Which is to say that I’m expecting a big first start from him tonight, especially against our lineup.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
