Pie Traynor, Josh Gibson, and the 1938 Pirates

I’m working on something interesting right now, but it’s going to take a while to churn out (hopefully I’ll have it done by this afternoon or later this evening) and so while you’re waiting, you should absolutely go to the Hardball Times and check out the story about Pie Traynor and the telegram sent to him by Chester Washington of the Pittsburgh Courier about integrating the 1938 Pirates with the legendary Negro League stars playing for the Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Crawfords. Can you even imagine? Thanks to everyone that sent this in.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
