I’m still in a bad mood today

xkcd correlationNormally I’m more than happy to discuss things about the Pirates and statistics and sabermetrics here or on Twitter and explain why I think the things I think, but I’m awfully grumpy after last night and so this is a fair warning that if you try to make the following arguments with me today, you’re either going to get ignored or yelled at:

  • The Pirates have sucked since Pedro Alvarez came back, so it’s Pedro’s fault.
  • The Pirates have lost every game since the trade deadline, so it’s Neal Huntington’s fault for messing up the chemistry.
  • The Pirates sucked last year and suck marginally less this year, so Clint Hurdle must be the sole reason that they suck marginally less this year.

Things are never this simple.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
