And now the Mets

believeincharlie2Let’s just put it all up front: if the Pirates can’t win three of four from the Mets this week, I’m going to be kind of bummed out. I wanted a sweep against the Cubs, but I’ll gladly take a 5-2 road trip to Chicago and New York in stride.

If that’s going to happen, tonight is a game the Pirates should find a way to win. Charlie Morton takes the mound for the Bucs and while he wasn’t great last Tuesday, he handled himself pretty well against a lefty-heavy lineup. He faces Dillon Gee, who’s 4-0 this year despite a middling strikeout rate and a pretty ugly walk rate. Josh Harrison, unfortunately, won’t be getting his first start tonight at third base. First pitch tonight is at 7:10.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
