Nathan Adcock

It was obviously a big mistake for me to leave Adcock off of the last Top 21 I did. I probably weighed his numbers from the ridiculous hitting environment at High Desert a bit too heavily. In any case, Adcock has been great in 2010 with FSL Bradenton, putting up a 3.0 K/BB ratio and cutting his walks and homers back quite a bit. Some of that might be his third go-round in High-A (he’s only 22, but the Mariners had him at High Desert first when he was 19), and that makes him a little tough to read. His stuff isn’t quite as good as the draftees from 2008 and 2009, but he’s a little further along in his development. I’d love to see him get a shot at Double-A in 2010, but I’m not sure there’s room in the rotation there so he may have to wait until 2011.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
