Finish them

There is blissfully little to be said about this Pirates/Brewers game tonight. The Pirates have a 4 1/2 game lead on the Brewers with nine games on the schedule (eight for the Brewers). The Pirates cannot clinch the wild card tonight and they cannot clinch it tomorrow, but just one more win in this series makes the second wild card an inevitability for the Bucs.

Anyway, last night was an incredible win for the Pirates and incredible moment in time in the history of the Pirate franchise as a whole. The Pirates don’t really need to replicate that tonight; they just need to find a way to score more runs than the Brewers of the course of nine innings. Edinson Volquez for the Bucs, Matt Garza for the Brewers. First pitch is at 7:05.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
