If the Pirates only get to lose one game per series from here on out …

The Pirates lost last night, which I guess is fine so long as they don’t do that again in this series against the Brewers. Jeff Locke starts for the Pirates, while Zach Davies makes his big league debut for the Brewers. The Pirate lineup tonight is the same lineup they were mostly using before everyone returned from injury: Ramirez at third, Kang at short, Walker at second.

Davies was having a decent year in AAA for the Orioles when they traded him to the Brewers for Gerardo Parra. He got lit up in AAA for the Brewers, but that’s what happens in Colorado Springs. He was a 26th round pick in 2011 and has never been considered a top prospect, but I won’t pretend like the Pirates haven’t had trouble with this sort of pitcher in the past. There’s not much room for error here.

First pitch is at 8:10.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
