Pennant races are relentless

There is not going to be much time to breathe in the National League in the second half of this season. The Pirates have won five of six out of the break, and now they go on the road to play the Rockies in Denver. That means that they need two or three more wins against the Rockies this weekend, because the Rockies are playing really awful baseball right now and if the Pirates slow down for even one second, they’re going to have even more work cut out for them.

Charlie Morton starts for the Pirates tonight. Brett Anderson, who more or less shut the Pirates down at PNC Park last weekend, starts for the Rockies. Perhaps the thin air will give the Pirates more luck against him. First pitch tonight is at 8:40.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
