The clock is ticking for Vanimal

Vance Worley probably doesn’t have much time left in the Pirates’ rotation. Between the rumors that the Pirates are interested in acquiring a starter and Gerrit Cole’s recovery from his lat problem, it’s hard to imagine Worley’s got more than a couple of starts left as a Pirate.

Tonight, he’ll face off against Josh Beckett in Beckett’s first start since July 6th, as he’s been out with a hip problem. The good news for Worley is that both Hanley Ramirez and Yasiel Puig are again out of the lineup tonight. The Pirates also held their own against Beckett back in May, running him out of the game after scoring twice on him in five innings (though, to be fair, that may have had something to do with the 128-pitch no-hitter he’d thrown in his previous outing).

First pitch is at 7:05.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
