Barry Bonds, Andy Van Slyke, Bobby Bonilla and some Friday afternoon YouTube

You know what’s going to make your Friday afternoon better? This video, from 1991, in which the DEFENDING NATIONAL LEAGUE EAST CHAMPION PITTSBURGH PIRATES take part in an exhibition with their Triple-A-affiliate-at-the-time Buffalo Bison. There’s no game footage, but there are some great interviews and cameos along with plenty of BP action featuring (among others) Skinny Barry Bonds and one of the sweetest swings in baseball history. Also, at one point Andy Van Slyke pops out to himself. These guys are why I love baseball.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
