Charlie Morton to the DL

The Pirates placed Charlie Morton on the disabled list today with “shoulder fatigue” and called up Steven Jackson. Jackson needs to be added to the 40-man roster, but by my count there are only 39 guys currently on the roster so there doesn’t need to be a corresponding move made (also, Kevin Hart could move to the 60-day DL).  Rob Biertempfel speculates that Brad Lincoln’s Pirate debut will come Tuesday.

Shoulder injuries are scary and I don’t want to joke about them, but if Morton has a torn labrum, I’m think I’m going to start selling shirts with Neal Huntington’s face and the words “Torn Labrum Brigade.” Honestly, though, I hope Morton is OK and that when he comes back, he can start to put some distance between himself and this terribly disappointing early season.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
