Berkman tells the Houston Chronicle: (via MLB Trade Rumors):
There’s been a lot of interest — Cardinals, Cubs, Rockies, A’s, Pirates, Blue Jays, a bunch of teams. I haven’t had a single offer in terms of X amount of dollars, but I think this is the time of the year when there’s a lot of tire-kicking.
Here’s a fun, non-controversial statement: If the Pirates are planning on 1.) Spending money this winter and 2.) Giving Garrett Jones 600 PAs at first base/right field, they wouldn’t really be hurt by signing Berkman to a one-year deal.
