Luis Heredia

Here’s what we know: Heredia is 6’6″, 16 years old, and already has a 94 mph fastball. The Pirates made that worth $2.6 million; by far the biggest bonus they’ve ever paid. The sky’s the limit for someone with that kind of build, but a 16-year old is a million miles away from the Majors. That said, the Pirates will start Heredia off in America with Bradenton in the Gulf Coast League (that’s rookie league Bradenton, not High-A Bradenton) this summer and that’s a great sign that they think the world of the kid.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
