The Trade Deadline Primer

A few weeks ago, a couple of bloggers from TwinsCentric asked me to generate some content for them for a rather ambitious e-book project they were calling “The Trade Deadline Primer.” Bloggers for each team look at what’s worked for their team to this point in the season, what’s not working so far, and potential ways to address the problems. We’ve all identified guys on our respective teams that might be moving to new home, prospects that could be moved by the “win now” teamst to improve at the deadline (or in the Pirates’ case, prospects that aren’t going anywhere), and what teams need to improve on.

Each individual team has its own book, which includes a mid-season report card and an essay written by the blogger. In this case, you’d get a card full of F’s and an examination of Neal Huntington’s deadline performance by yours truly with nothing recycled from the site. There’s also a forward by the great Rob Neyer. All in all, the Pirates’ version is in the neighborhood of 180 pages of baseball overload and it can be yours, in pdf form, for $9.95.

I could give you a spiel about what an interesting new media project this is or how much work went into this, but I’m not trying to sell you a monorail here. I have the Pirates’ version and there’s a lot of good stuff in it (meaning the 90% of it that wasn’t generated by me).

If you’re interested or know someone that might be, you can buy the Pirates Trade Deadline Primer here. If you’re not interested, or think you might be interested and aren’t sure, you can check out a free preview of the Twins’ version of the book, which encompasses about a quarter of the whole project, here. It’s free, so there’s really no reason to not at least check it out.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
