In which the Brewers and Reds somehow help the Pirates cut the NL Central lead to 2 1/2

Remember all of those times that I’ve declared the NL Central race over and attempted to prepare for the Wild Card Game?

The Reds beat the Cardinals twice yesterday (once in a suspended game) and the Pirates beat the Brewers 10-2 behind an early rally in the rain and a late grand slam from Mike Morse, and now the Bucs are within 2 1/2 of first place with 21 games to go in the 2015 season.

Francisco Liriano and Taylor Jungmann face off to close out the Pirates/Brewers season series this afternoon. Jungmann has dominated the Pirates this year, but Liriano is coming off of a pretty solid start in his last outing against the Reds. First pitch is at 1:35. Michael Wacha and Raisel Iglesias pitch in Cincinnati at 1:10.

About Pat Lackey

In 2005, I started a WHYGAVS instead of working on organic chemistry homework. Many years later, I've written about baseball and the Pirates for a number of sites all across the internet, but WHYGAVS is still my home. I still haven't finished that O-Chem homework, though.
